Moth ridden dog food
- - Webs and moth-like bugs were found in a 35 lb bag.
- - The bag's mesh allows pests to get in.
- - I freeze dog food before serving due to storage mites.
I started seeing a few webs and moth like bugs in my 35 lb bag of purina completely dog food. As I got further in the bag the entire bottom portion of the food was fully clustered together with webs and moths.
My dog is allergic to storage mites and we freeze his food prior to serving. This really grossed me out. I contacted them about it and they want to give me coupons for two free bags but I will no longer use their food. Their mesh like bag allows pests to get in.
My local pet supplies hears complaints regularly from customers about this problem. Highly disappointed.
User's recommendation: Do not buy until they correct the packaging
Excellent customer service experience
- - Crushed cans in 9 Lives wet cat food; ongoing issue with large case.
- - Brandon was kind and empathetic; coupons were sent; customer has 5 cats and uses Purina.
I spoke with Brandon Monday, Jan 5th with issues of crushed cans in my 9 lives wet cat food. This has been an ongoing situation every time I order the large case.
He was very kind, knowledgeable, and empathetic which is lacking in most companies in today's world.
I received some coupons today that he sent and I am thrilled to know your company truly cares about your consumers. I have 5 cats and I only use Purina products, wet and dry as well as their treats.
You can only imagine what is spent each month because they are very spoiled.
Please thank Brandon for me and thanks to Purina for having him on board. He is a true asset to your company.

Verified ReviewerBugs in my pet food
- - I have been a Pro Plan customer for over 20 years.
- - I found maggot-like insects and flying bugs in the food.
- - I am reluctant to purchase again.
I have been buying pro plan for over 20 years and have been very happy with, until now. I purchased the large bag since I have a big German shepherd.
I poured the food in my dog's container and the next day I went to feed her and there were maggot looking things in webs and flying bugs everywhere.
I am still chasing them in my home. I have been very leary about purchasing anymore.

Verified Reviewer |Friskies pate
- - Purchased Friskies 40-pack pate at Walmart, Logan, WV.
- - Seven cans left out; feral cats outside and a raccoon vomited; inside cat has diarrhea.
Purchased Friskies 40 pack pate at Walmart in Logan, WV, yesterday and gave it to feral cats outside. All have been spayed, neutered, vaccinated, etc., long ago.
After eating just a little, they started vomiting left and right; the porch was covered, and all refused to eat. Even a raccoon done the same.
I had put down 7 cans, still out there. My inside cats ate just a little and became ill; one has diarrhea.
Preferred solution: Pull from shelves and find out why pets are getting sick full refund as well I had to open a different brand that thank goodness I decided to purchase no issues at all with special kitty. They threw up last purchase I made through Kroger's of 24 cans
User's recommendation: Do not purchase
Inability to get Fancy Feast Christmas ornament
- - The ornament is only available via the App.
- - I emailed support and got an unhelpful reply.
- - I am a loyal customer and I feel it's unfair.
I have no way to get the ornament this year because you can only get it by the App. I e-mailed you and got a stupid response that did not help at all.
As a very loyal customer, who has gotten the ornament every year, this is totally untair and discriminatory. I hate Apps and don't use them.
The ornaments have been a very valued tradition and now I can't get one. Thanks for ruining that tradition.

I bought a half dozen little soups last week, and three were fine, but when I opened the fourth, it was all congealed inside. There was also a runny liquid, and it didn't look right, so we're not going to give it to our cat. I have photos of it too.

Verified ReviewerTerrible change to true instincts dog food
- - 17-year-old dog on Purina True Instinct Venison and Turkey.
- - Two 16-lb bags have rubbery large pieces and little kibble; no notice; refund requested.
Reached out to Purina to find out what the rubbery chunks that are in the food. Almost a whole 16lb bags was full of it. My dog wouldn't eat until all the rubber pieces were removed from her food bowl
I've had my 17yr old dog on Purina True instinct venison and turkey. My last two 16lb bags are mostly those ugly rubbery large pieces and very little kibble.
I'm Di not b uydisappointed in the change with no notice. I've forced to change Maggie's food. This is not acceptable at all. Corporate greed over health of my dog and thousands of others.
I want my $65 dollars refunded for the two 16 pound bags.
Thank you in advance for your consideration. A dog owner who cares.

Verified Reviewer |Moldy, Infested Dog Food from Purina Dog Chow Causing Heart Worms
- - Purina Dog Chow from Sam's Club found moldy with gnats and worms.
- - Pitpit fell ill; vet bill over $500; seeks refund, future coverage, and legal action.
I am writing to express my utmost dissatisfaction and concern regarding a recent purchase of Purina Dog Chow from Sam's Club. I opened the bag and placed it inside a covered bin, just like I always do with my pups' food.
However, to my absolute horror, when I poured the food into the bin this morning, I discovered that it was infested with mold, gnats, and worms.
As a result of consuming this contaminated food, my 7-year-old Pitbull, Pitpit, fell severely ill. He experienced vomiting, diarrhea, and extreme lethargy. I had to rush him to the vet, where I was slapped with a bill of over $500 for emergency treatment.
To make matters worse, the vet informed me that Pitpit had contracted heartworm from something he ate and was advised to place him on Hill Science for a while, as recommended by my vet. When I went to feed him this morning, he would not eat the kibble and I thought it was due to him being on the canned Hill Science food.
This is an incredibly serious and potentially life-threatening condition.
Now, he requires extensive and expensive treatment to cure his heartworm.
I am absolutely livid at the sheer negligence displayed by Purina Dog Chow. The fact that their product contained mold, gnats, and worms is completely unacceptable and has put my beloved pet's life at risk.
Therefore, I demand the following:
1. A full refund for the contaminated bag of food.
2. Reimbursement for all of Pitpit's recent vet expenses.
3.
Coverage for all future expenses related to his heartworm treatment.
If this matter is not promptly and adequately addressed, I will have no choice but to take legal action.
The health and well-being of my pet are of the utmost importance to me, and I will not tolerate any negligence that compromises his safety.
This incident has left me deeply concerned about the quality and safety of your products. I can be reached via email or cell.
I will send an email and upload the pictures of the mold, worms and inside of the bag.
Sincerely,
Joyce Anthony

Sounds like a bunch of crap. Looks like you let your food get wet and then moldy and then blame it on purina when it looks like you own negligence.
Probably just wanting money for nothing. Your pet probably already had heart worms and you want to blame someone else.
